FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The New York Jets, losers of three straight, may not have star wide receiver Garrett Wilson for Sunday's road game against the heavily favored Kansas City Chiefs.

Wilson is in concussion protocol and considered day-to-day, coach Aaron Glenn said Wednesday.

While Wilson's status is up in the air, the Jets do expect to have running back Breece Hall (quadriceps) back in the lineup. Hall, sidelined for five games, is "trending in the right direction," Glenn said.

Wilson took a blow to the head while making a reception on the Jets' next-to-last play in their 38-33 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Safety Jeremy Chinn was flagged for unnecessary roughness.

Wilson stayed in the game for the final play, an unsuccessful Hail Mary intended for him in the end zone. On Monday, he reported to the facility experiencing concussion symptoms, according to Glenn.

Hall has been practicing for two weeks, albeit on a limited basis, and was listed as questionable for the last two games. The Jets have been deliberate with Hall, Glenn said, because they don't want to risk further injury.

Braelon Allen's emergence has lessened the need to rush him back. In five games as the starter, Allen has rushed for 504 yards and 5.0 yards per carry. The only player in the NFL with more rushing yards over that stretch is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Bucky Irving (548).

Glenn provided a curt answer when asked how he'd manage a Hall-Allen backfield.

"Both will play," he said, declining to elaborate.

Hall, who signed a three-year, $43.5 million contract in the offseason, has been the subject of trade speculation. On Monday, Glenn insisted, "We're in the business of keeping good players, and he's one of our better players. So Breece will still be here."

Wilson leads the Jets in receptions (43), receiving yards (527) and receiving touchdowns (three). The Jets (2-6) have two capable receivers in Adonai Mitchell and rookie Omar Cooper Jr. Mitchell recorded a career-high 147 yards last week; Cooper already has two 100-yard receiving days.

In other injury news, the pass rush could get a boost this week. Rookie David Bailey, who leads the team with 5.5 sacks, is likely to play after missing one game with a groin injury. Edge rusher Joseph Ossai, out the last three games with an ankle injury, also is poised to return.
