100kg of pork bones and meat dumped in Buriram forest

BURIRAM — 21 September 2026, Villagers have raised concerns over possible disease contamination after finding bags containing an estimated 100 kilograms of pork bones and fresh meat scattered across a community forest in Nang Rong district.

The bags were discovered on 20 September in a community forest beside Route 348, which connects Nang Rong and Pakham districts, in Nong Sai subdistrict, Nang Rong district.

Buriram Highway Police Rescue Unit officers were alerted by villagers and coordinated with community leaders to inspect the site.

They found numerous bags scattered throughout the forest containing slaughtered pork bones and fresh meat that had begun to smell.

Officials suspected that traders or vendors may have secretly dumped the waste, although the reason for the dumping remained unclear.

One possibility is that the pork was unsold and had spoiled, or that it may have been contaminated with a disease, prompting someone to dispose of it illegally. Some of the material had been scattered around the forest, possibly after dogs dragged the bags away to eat the contents.

Initial estimates put the total amount of pork bones and meat dumped at no less than 100 kilograms.

Samran Samruangwong, a volunteer with the Buriram Highway Police Rescue Unit, said villagers who had entered the forest to collect wild products discovered the suspicious bags and alerted authorities.

Rescuers and community leaders inspected the area and found slaughtered pork bones and meat scattered at several locations. The source of the waste and who dumped it remained unknown.

Authorities have contacted livestock officials to collect samples and test whether the pork is contaminated with any pathogens, as well as investigate its source.

The remaining pork bones and meat will be buried to prevent the potential spread of disease, officials said.
