PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur – The Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU) confirmed two fatalities following a shooting incident at its Junior High School campus on Tuesday.

In an official statement, the university said it was “saddened by the incident” and assured that the safety of students remains its top priority. Parents and guardians were immediately contacted to pick up their children, while those still on campus were secured by school personnel.

AdZU added that it is coordinating with authorities on a full report and has established official communication channels to provide verified updates. “We ask everyone to respect the privacy of all affected individuals. We pray for the quick resolution of the situation and for the safety of all,” the university said.

The City Government of Zamboanga also released a statement expressing deep sorrow over the incident. Officials said they are closely coordinating with the school management, the Zamboanga City Police Office, and other concerned agencies.

Authorities assured the public that the situation is under control and that appropriate security measures are in place. “The safety of our students, teachers, and school communities remains our highest priority,” the City Government said.

Officials appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information, rumors, photographs, or videos that could cause unnecessary alarm or interfere with the ongoing police response and investigation.
