The 20th edition of the Asian Games began in Aichi-Nagoya on Saturday, September 17.
Indian athletes will be competing in 37 events and one of the them will be taekwondo. India does not have an illustrious history in the sport at the Asian Games, with its only medal coming way back in 2002 (Surendra Bhandari).
However, India could end its medal drought courtesy of Kashish Malik, who will be featuring in the women’s -57kg category, and had secured a bronze at the Asian Championships in the -53kg category earlier this year.
Kashish will also be featuring in the virtual taekwondo, which will feature at the Asian Gams for the first time.
