Lionsgate is bringing “The Housemaid” to the London stage, with an adaptation of the Amanda Seyfriend/Sydney Sweeney-starrer set to bow next fall in Richmond.

Described as a “seductive psychological thriller,” it will be based on the novel by Freida McFadden and Paul Feig’s 2025 feature film adaptation, which starred Sweeney as troubled young woman Millie Calloway who goes to work for wealthy New York couple Nina and Andrew Winchester (Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar). In their home, she soon uncovers a web of deception.

Rebecca Sonnenshine wrote the screenplay for the feature, which was produced by Feig, Todd Lieberman and Laura Fischer.

A feature film sequel, “The Housemaid’s Secret” is currently in production with a global theatrical release planned for December next year.

Bekah Brunstetter (“Five-Star Weekend,” “Sirens”) is adapting Freida McFadden’s best-selling novel while Matthew Dunster (“2:22 A Ghost Story,” “The Hunger Games: On Stage”) is set to direct the U.K. adaptation.

Melting Pot are producing the stage show in collaboration with Lionsgate.

“The Housemaid” will open at Richmond Theatre on Sept. 14, 2027 before going on a two-month tour of the U.K. Casting has not yet been announced.

“With the stage play debuting next year and our sequel film in production, the momentum behind ‘The Housemaid’ franchise continues to grow,” said Jenefer Brown, Lionsgate’s president for global products and experiences.
