GENER8ION and Yung Lean Premiere Electrifying Performance of ‘Storm II’ at 2026 VMAs

Yung Lean and a horde of dancers lit up the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards stage with the live premiere of Lean’s collaboration with GENER8ION, “Storm II,” marking their debuts at the MTV VMAs. A high point of the evening, the artists and dancers recreated the music video for the second of their two-part “Storm” in front of a live audience.

At the top of their performance, Yung Lean grabbed a Moon Person before making his way to the main stage and smashing the statue on the ground. Directly mirroring the music video, Yung Lean was flanked by a swath of dancers in school uniforms who ripple through captivating choreography created by Damien Jalet. After an energetic and meticulous performance by the dancers, Lean left the formation and spat a blue ice cream cone into the camera lens as the song faded out.

“Storm,” the first of their two-part collaboration, was nominated for four awards tonight, including Video of the Year, Best Long Form Video, Best Direction (Romain Gavras), and Best Choreography (Damien Jalet). “Storm” was among the stacked list of visuals from some of the biggest names in music for Video of the Year, including Ariana Grande (“Hate That I Made You Love Me”), Bruno Mars (“I Just Might”), Madonna (“Confessions II – The Film”), Sabrina Carpenter (“Tears”), and Taylor Swift (“The Fate of Ophelia”).

Director Gavras previously won an MTV Video Music Award in the Best Direction category for M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls.” Jalet is known for his hypnotic choreographic style, and has gain recognition in the music world for his work with Thom Yorke on his short film Anima.
