Star Trek fans have a lot to look forward to this year as the 60th anniversary celebrations officially kick into high gear. This month in particular has been quite exciting already, with a major new era-spanning Rediscovered season of Star Trek Online taking us across every major series in the franchise and even introducing an intergenerational Spock crossover with original archive footage from the legendary Leonard Nimoy himself.

Star Trek: Enterprise fans, however, will want to mark their calendars for the official return of Captain Jonathan Archer, played by the iconic Scott Bakula and captain of the Enterprise NX-01, Earth's first Warp 5 starship. Unlike later captains, Archer helped define what a Starfleet captain could be before the Federation had even taken shape, giving his character a uniquely foundational place in Star Trek history and making his return in October especially meaningful for longtime fans.

Looney Labs is bringing Star Trek back in a major way for the franchise’s 60th anniversary. The company is producing a limited reprint of its four original standalone Star Trek Fluxx games covering The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, scheduled to return to stores on October 20, 2026. The anniversary celebration also includes the new Star Trek: Lower Decks Fluxx as well.

For Enterprise fans, however, Captain Jonathan Archer is making a comeback through the Archer Expansion, one of two Enterprise-themed expansion packs available for the game. The 16-card set focuses heavily on Archer and the Temporal Cold War, adding Jonathan Archer, Daniels, and the Atavachron as Keepers, alongside The Xindi and Temporal Rift Creepers.

Its nine Goals reference episodes and major concepts from across Enterprise and the wider franchise, including "These Are the Voyages," "The Temporal Cold War," "Founding the Federation," "In a Mirror, Darkly," and the appropriately named "Faith of the Heart." It also adds the Department of Temporal Investigations Surprise card.

Perhaps most importantly for players with larger collections, the expansion introduces the Combined Decks Meta Rule, designed to make games using multiple Fluxx decks work together more smoothly. The Archer cards are compatible with all four standalone Star Trek Fluxx games, meaning Archer can effectively be mixed into adventures spanning several different eras of the franchise. The expansion contains 16 cards and is currently listed by Looney Labs for $5.

Fluxx is a fast-paced card game built around constantly changing rules, with players drawing and playing cards while trying to meet an ever-shifting Goal. New Rule cards can alter everything from hand limits to how many cards are played each turn, giving every game an unpredictable and somewhat chaotic/random feel.

The Star Trek editions apply that formula to familiar characters, ships, locations, and storylines, making this new release a fun and unique way for fans to revisit different eras of the franchise.
