Emmerdale star Jeff Hordley drops worrying Christmas hint for Cain

Emmerdale favourite Cain Dingle has been battling prostate cancer for the best part of the year, and actor Jeff Hordley has teased that it's going to get even more difficult for him over the festive season.

Speaking to The Mirror, Hordley said: "There's kind of still rough times ahead really - and also leading up to Christmas as well."

Although he didn't reveal much more beyond vaguely stating that "this storyline will change things", he did reflect on the impact of the story since it began.

"It's lovely to raise awareness", he said. "It's just been really kind of overwhelming, emotional.

"I've met so many people on the streets — absolutely lovely people who have been through this situation and praised how we're doing it.

"So as long as we're reaching out and people are learning from this and connecting with this, then that's what matters."

In terms of what the storyline has been for him as an actor, he explained: "It's been new territory for me doing this storyline as a character, but also for me as a person, it's been a big, huge learning curve. So yeah, [I'm] just thankful to the team for writing a brilliant story."

Another storyline Cain has been involved with lately has seen his former lover Sadie King turn up in the village again after years away, and demand that he returns the £2.5 million that she feels he owes her.
