Melaka crowned state team champions at PNAGS National Final

KUALA LUMPUR: Melaka emerged state team champions at the Perodua National Amateur Golf Series (PNAGS) National Final at Templer Park Country & Golf Club on Tuesday.

Led by captain Mohd Firdaus Sabri, Melaka posted a two-day combined total of 590 nett from their four counting players to claim the Perodua Challenge Trophy.

Penang finished runners-up on 598, while Pahang were third with 603.

The two-day final featured 84 amateur golfers, with titles also decided in five medal categories and the gross competition.

Nordin Yahaya, playing off a one handicap, claimed the gross title with a two-round aggregate of 153.

The five medal category champions earned places in the Malaysian team for the World Amateur Golfers Championship (WAGC) World Final at Desaru Coast, Johor, from Oct 23-31.

The international event is expected to feature about 500 amateur golfers from 48 countries.

Perodua chairman Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin presented the prizes to the winners.

"With the national champions now crowned, attention turns to Desaru Coast, where Team Malaysia will take on golfers from around the world at the WAGC World Final," said Asmat.
