Grand Theft Auto 6 is nearly here, and it's going to pretty much dominate the holiday season. While there is some competition from games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, moststudios have moved out of November and into a soft 2027 release.
It's prudent to be afraid of GTA 6, as Rockstar has ensured it's dominated the headlines this year, even with its numerous delays. Now, it's set to arrive on November 19, and it seems fully set to release.
Over on YouTube, Rockstar just posted one of the final trailers for GTA 6, and it's a pretty big one. Even though it's not as long as the Netflix first look, it's densely packed and includes a few spicy scenes.
While the launch trailer is just a minute and a half long, it gets the point across and then some. We start with Jason, a man who seems to be at the end of his rope, noting how he "got in some trouble in the Army...didn't leave on the best of terms." He then gets a call from his future partner-in-crime Lucia, kicking off the events of GTA 6.
It looks like we're also set to get flashbacks from Jason's time in the Army, but the trailer also shows off a ton of current-day events, like bank robberies, a concert, a fight on a fan boat, and even a spicy shower scene. Many of these were only hinted at with out-of-context screenshots drip-fed throughout the year, but it's nice to see them in motion.
Of course, there's plenty of action too. We get plenty of gunplay from Jason because of his military training, plus some helicopter scenes and a few explosions. If you're curious, only one song plays throughout the trailer, and it's "Flower In A Hurricane" by Justice, Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It's a mouthful, but that song is easy to find.
If you're all-in on playing GTA 6, it's safe to avoid this trailer. It's vague enough that it doesn't spoil specific story beats, but a few bits outright show some of the bigger action set pieces, especially near the end. You've been warned if you're planning on going in with surprises intact. As for gameplay insight, there are a lot of vehicular scenes, plus tons of footage of snipers and heavier assault rifles, which may lean more into Jason's training with military weaponry.
There's very little dialogue in the launch trailer, but near the end, Jason does say one thing: "We stuck together through everything, now we just 'gotta get through it." We'll see how Jason and Lucia's story ends soon enough on November 19, when GTA 6 launches.
