Translate

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has set his sights on becoming the African player with the most appearances in the Premier League, Completesports.com reports.

Iwobi moved into second place on the all-time list after featuring in Fulham’s 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park last Saturday.

The 30-year-old had previously been level with former Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah but has now moved ahead with 329 Premier League appearances across three clubs.

The midfielder made 100 appearances for Arsenal, 123 for Everton and has featured 106 times for Fulham since joining the London club.

Former Ivory Coast international Kolo Toure currently holds the record with 352 Premier League appearances.

Iwobi Targets Toure’s Record

Reacting to the milestone, Iwobi said he was pleased with the achievement but remained focused on breaking Toure’s record.

“It’s hard for me to cherish the memories. I’d like to keep on looking ahead, so it’s a nice little stat to have,” Iwobi told Fulham’s official television channel, FFC TV.

“But I’m trying to break the record. I think Kolo Toure is up there, so I’ll keep my eyes going forward and see if I can break that.”

Iwobi has scored once in nine league appearances for Fulham this season.
