Sri Lanka’s Vishmi Gunaratne had to be stretchered off the field after suffering an ankle injury during the Women’s Asia Cup final at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
Vishmi had come in as a replacement for Sanjana Kavindi for the final, but now her participation with the bat in the second innings is in doubt.
The incident took place in the fifth over of the first innings when Vishmi, fielding at deep mid-wicket, twisted her ankle in her follow through while throwing the ball back to the bowler, Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu.
Vishmi immediately signalled for the physios, and was subsequently stretchered off from the field.
