Pokémon Officially Unveils Brand-New 30th Anniversary Eeveelution Design

It is hard to believe that this year celebrates the 30th anniversary of Pokémon. First created back in February 1996 with the release of the Pocket Monsters Red and Green video games in Japan, the franchise, conceived by Satoshi Tajiri alongside illustrator Ken Sugimori, has become a worldwide phenomenon thanks to the launch of cards, movies, television shows, video games, and more.

Perhaps what makes the Pokémon franchise as beloved as it is, is the chance for fans to collect Pokémon trading cards, and with some cards fetching thousands of dollars, it is no wonder that many consider it to be a lucrative hobby.

Now, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the hit franchise, Pokémon TCG is releasing its 30th Celebration Expansion, with the official description reading as follows:

Celebrate 30 years of joy with fan-favorite Pokémon spanning three dazzling decades! Explore some of the cards offered in the 30th Celebration expansion, and dive into a variety of card collections spanning the past, present, and future of the Pokémon TCG!

Not only that, but according to the small print, all cards available in the 30th Celebration Expansion are now able to be played in official tournaments, so you have no excuse not to check out the latest batch of stunning cardboard, especially as one includes art of an anniversary Eeveelution.

On the official website, we can check out the 154 brand-new designs that have been released, split between five categories: Pokémon Ex, Special Art, Pikachu Rare, Classic Collection, and Futuristic Rare.

Whilst the Futuristic Rare additions include Mew and Mewtwo, there is one addition to the Special Art category that has captured our attention: Sylveon. On this stunning Eeveelution card, we can see the dazzling pink and blue design set across a vibrant burst of colors. Titled 'Colorful Harmony', it will be a stunning addition to your Pokémon TCG collection, and shows us an Eeveelution that we have not yet seen.

Not only that, but we at Screen Rant put together a simple guide of the best Pokémon TCG cards to get as part of the 30th anniversary celebration additions. For Sylveon, we said, "Sylveon ex is a strong card with 270 HP to protect it, but its one attack must be used strategically to be very effective. Colorful Harmony requires players to have several types of Basic Energy attached to Pokémon in order to do a lot of damage. Colorful Harmony states that, "This attack does 50 damage for each type of Basic Energy attached to all of your Pokémon."

"As you obviously would have some Psychic Energy in play, it will at least have base damage of 50. If you plan the use of this card for when there are multiple types applied to cards, it could do upwards of 400 damage."
