Kristen Bell's Emmys night makeup began with Botticelli.

Makeup artist Simone Siegl drew inspiration from Bell's dress, translating Botticelli's romantic sensibility into dewy bronze skin, neutral eyes and a rose lip.

'My inspiration always begins with the dress. The moment I saw it, Botticelli came to mind - the romance, softness, and ethereal femininity,' Siegl told the Daily Mail. 'I wanted the beauty to have a bohemian spirit while still feeling chic and elevated.'

Bell, 46, stars as Joanne, an agnostic podcaster who falls for a rabbi, on Netflix's Nobody Wants This. She heads into the Emmys nominated as an executive producer in the outstanding comedy series category.

'For the makeup, I kept everything fresh, luminous, and refined: glowing bronzed skin, softly defined eyes, and a rosy lip,' Siegl said. 'Romantic and effortless, with a modern red-carpet finish.'

Here's how she did it, step by step.

STEP 1: THE SERUM

L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Serum Le Duo, $37

Bell's glow started on freshly cleansed skin. The bottle dispenses a translucent serum and a milky one together, giving the face a light layer of moisture and smoothing the surface before makeup. The finish is fresh and plump, with no heavy coating to dull the luminosity Siegl wanted.

STEP 2: THE MOISTURIZER

L'Oréal Paris Age Perfect Midnight Cream, $37

Siegl followed with a richer cream to lock in the serum's moisture. Its rich texture keeps dry areas smooth so foundation is easier to glide on around the nose, cheeks and mouth. The cream melts down to a dewy finish, giving the complexion a subtle glow before makeup is applied.

STEP 3: THE LIQUID GLOW

L'Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Glotion, $18

Siegl placed a small amount of Lumi Glotion on Bell's T-zone, adding a touch of radiance to the actress's face. The liquid catches the light across the forehead, nose and chin, creating a glow that appears to come through the makeup instead of sitting on top of it.

STEP 4: THE FOUNDATION

The cushion compact gives Siegl control over how much foundation she applies. She used Neutral 50 to even Bell's complexion while preserving the sheen created by the serum, cream and Glotion.

'It's super lightweight and makes the skin look flawless,' Siegl explained.

STEP 5: THE CONCEALER

L'Oreal Paris Infallible 24H Full Coverage Concealer in shade 355, $16

Siegl dabbed shade 355 under Bell's eyes to cover darkness without extending the heavier coverage across the rest of her face. Keeping the concealer in one targeted area lets the luminous skin around it remain visible.

STEP 6: THE BRONZER

L'Oreal Paris Lumi Bronze Le Stick Soleil in shade 110, $13

The Botticelli warmth came from a bronzing stick in shade 110. Siegl brushed it across Bell's forehead, nose and jawline, then carried it below the cheeks. Connecting those points gives the face an even wash of bronze and brings definition back after foundation.

STEP 7: THE POWDER

Powder could have erased the dewy finish, but by using a light hand to apply Translucent Light 20 on Bell's T-zone, she reduced excess shine and softly blurred the skin while leaving the glow on the cheeks untouched.

STEP 8: THE BLUSH

L'Oreal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Blush in W 5-6, $15

Siegl laid down the warm W 5-6 blush, then topped it with L'Oreal Multi-Use Tinted Balm in 02. The first layer supplies the color. The balm brings back the sheen, giving Bell's cheeks a rosy, light-catching finish that ties the bronze complexion to the lip.

STEP 9: THE MASCARA

L'Oreal Paris Extensionist Mascara in Blackest Black, $16

Siegl layered several coats of Blackest Black over Bell's lashes. The curved comb uses more than 300 tiny bristles to lift and separate as it moves from root to tip, while fine fibers cling to the lashes to extend their visible length. The black fringe makes Bell's eyes pop through the soft brown haze without appearing harsh.

STEP 10: THE LIPSTICK

L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Original Satin Lipstick in 601, $13

Shade 601 supplies the rose at the center of Siegl's palette. The satin formula gives Bell's lips color with a soft sheen, carrying the warmth from her cheeks through the finished look.

'This is truly the perfect shade of rose,' Siegl said.

STEP 11: THE SETTING SPRAY

L'Oreal Paris Infallible 3-Second Setting Spray, $14

Siegl sprayed the aerosol mist across Bell's face, where it dried within seconds and formed a clear layer designed to resist sweat, smudging and transfer. The makeup stays put while the bronze, blush and liquid luminizer keep their healthy sheen.
