The Chicks Draw Ire of White House After Natalie Maines Calls Trump a “Deranged Nut Job”

The Chicks are once again beefing with a US president. This time around, frontwoman Natalie Maines has drawn the ire of the White House after calling Donald Trump a “deranged nut job” and saying she would give George W. Bush “a big wet kiss” in comparison.
Maines hit out at Trump during The Chicks’ “Taking the Long Way 20th Anniversary Tour” concert at New York City’s Beacon Theatre on Monday, October 12th. Per Billboard, Maines was reflecting on the backlash to her 2003 criticism of President Bush, when she told a London crowd, “We’re ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas,” as the US was preparing for a post-9/11 invasion of Iraq.
According to the report, The Chicks displayed a video montage of “political pundits and everyday folk losing their minds over the idea that someone might not be a fan of a sitting president” before Maines said she would never give in to the “shut up and sing” critics.
“We thought that was the worst it could get,” Maines recalled feeling in 2003. “Now I’d give George [W.] Bush a big wet kiss,” she continued, drawing loud applause. “‘Cause now we’re ashamed the president of the United States is from the United States.”
Later on, Maines thanked the Obamas for “all the positive things they did and continue to do,” describing his presidency as “So different than the deranged nut job we have right now. Very bizarre times.”
In a statement to Fox News responding to the comments, the White House called Maines a “despicable nobody who clearly suffers from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted her peanut-sized brain.”
This is hardly the first time that Maines has hit out at Trump. In May, she criticized his attempt to raise more than $1.7 billion in taxpayer money for supporters and allies investigated by the Joe Biden administration. “Our democracy is disappearing right before our eyes,” she wrote on Instagram. “This fugly slut is using your gas money to pay the insurrectionists.”
The “Taking the Long Way 20th Anniversary Tour” continues through early November and features upcoming shows in Nashville, Austin, Los Angeles, and more.
