Nonetheless, it has fetched a massive number on the first day, overtaking 2.0’s opening by a big margin. As a result, it had an opening of 70.45 crore gross in India, while internationally, it amassed a huge 57 crore gross. Combining both, the film grossed a solid 127.45 crore at the worldwide box office on day 1.

With 127.45 crore, Jailer 2 has registered Kollywood’s 3rd biggest opening of all time globally. It surpassed 2.0 (100.5 crore) to claim the 3rd spot, and stayed below Leo (142.96 crore).
In 2026, Jailer 2 is Kollywood’s first 100-crore opener and is likely to be the only one with no magnum opus scheduled for release. So, this is the second consecutive year since 2025 (Coolie) in which Rajinikanth has delivered Kollywood’s biggest opener of the year.
