EastEnders shuts down Kojo and Jodie romance in surprise change

EastEnders aired a surprising change in the relationship between Kojo Asare and Jodie Hawkins, with the pair putting their respective families in line after they attempted to meddle with their personal lives.
The duo have been close ever since Jodie arrived in Walford back in August, and developed their bond throughout this week as they decorated Harry's Barn in the lead-up to Halloween.

Sensing that Kojo and Jodie could have something more romantic going on, the families for each party have attempted to bring the pair even closer together by playing matchmaker, to varying results.
Thursday's (29 October) episode of the BBC soap saw the pair admire their work as they enjoyed a drink at Harry's Barn, with Gemma remarking that her younger sister had always liked "older men".
Brother-in-law Ned shared Gemma's words with Jodie, and said that she was up to her matchmaking ways again. Jodie and Kojo both appeared to be confused, as they maintained that they were just friends.
Ned relayed this back to Gemma, though she was adamant that the pair had a deeper connection. Despite professing to have a "sixth sense" when it came to love, she would soon get a rude awakening as Jodie and Kojo grew tired of being watched.

Jodie spoke to her sister and set the record straight, while saying that it 'sucked' that they were thought to be a good match just because they were both neurodivergent. She said that she was "sick of being stereotyped", and urged Gemma to stay out of her love life.
Gemma seemed to agree to the request, while Jodie and Kojo cemented their friendship by heading out for some chips. With Gemma being put in her place by her sister, will she agree to stay out of her love life?
EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
