MANILA, Philippines—A teacher from Mindanao has filed an administrative complaint against her live-in partner, a police corporal assigned to Camp Crame, accusing him of repeatedly abusing her over nearly nine years, the National Police Commission (Napolcom) said Tuesday.

The teacher, identified only by the alias “Ma’am,” filed the complaint against the cop at the Napolcom central office in Quezon City.

Napolcom said it would pursue the appropriate administrative proceedings against the policeman for grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.

“We will not tolerate any form of violence against women. To those experiencing abuse, please do not allow yourselves to be hurt, even if it happens for the first time,” Napolcom Commissioner Rafael Vicente Calinisan said.

Calinisan stressed that police officers must also be held accountable for alleged abuses, including those committed against their partners or spouses.
