Chess Olympiad Round 9 Pairings: Praggnanandhaa, Gukesh, Arjun to take on Germany; Koneru, Divya, Savitha face Uzbekistan

India will look to return to winning ways in Round 9 of the Chess Olympiad 2026 at Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

India had to settle for draws on Thursday, as the men’s team played out a 1-1 draw against Azerbaijan and B. Savitha Shri’s late win helped India draw 2-2 with Kazakhstan.

On Friday, India will face Germany in the open section and Uzbekistan in the women’s event.

In the open section, Vidit Gujrathi has been rested for Nihal Sarin, while Vantika Agarwal will come in for R.Vaishali in the women’s event.

After yesterday’s results, India slipped to seventh in the standings, and now has 13 points after eight rounds.
