Mother of newborn found dead in Sydney rubbish bin identified
The mother of the newborn boy found dead in a rubbish bin outside a unit complex in Sydney’s western suburbs has been identified by police, almost three weeks after the baby was discovered.
The baby was found in the bin of an Auburn unit complex on August 31. Police estimated the boy had only been alive for 36 hours before he was discovered.
Detectives identified the mother after an exhaustive review of CCTV footage, and a wide appeal for information in the area.
The 24-year-old was taken to hospital by police on Tuesday. She is being questioned by detectives but has not been arrested.
