Portuguese FA President addresses Jorge Jesus and Cristiano Ronaldo situation

Translate

The President of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) Pedro Proença has sought to calm concerns surrounding the relationship between national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo and head coach Jorge Jesus.

Proença, while speaking in an interview, stressed that the federation handles internal matters privately, while insisting that Jesus and Ronaldo remain on good terms. These comments came amid growing attention surrounding the Portuguese national team and speculation over Ronaldo's future with the side.

Proença affirmed that Ronaldo's continued commitment to Portugal is closely linked to his relationship with the coach, suggesting that the situation could have been different if the pair did not maintain a strong relationship.

He said,

"The FPF resolves situations internally. I reiterate: there is a very strong relationship between Jorge Jesus and Cristiano Ronaldo. If that weren't the case, perhaps Ronaldo would have already left our national team”.

The FPF president also called for calm as discussions continue behind the scenes, emphasizing that the federation wants the focus to return to the national team ahead of its next international commitments in November.

Pedro Proença,

“Everything that will happen in the coming days will be a time of tranquility, conversation, and discussion, and what we want is for us all to be back with our national team in November”.

Proença's comments underline the federation's desire to resolve the situation internally rather than allow speculation to dominate the conversation surrounding Portugal's national team.
