Barcola Ready To Step Up For Liverpool Ahead Of Man City Clash

Liverpool forward Bradley Barcola has opened up on the physical demands of English football as he works to find his feet on Merseyside ahead of Sunday’s blockbuster clash with Manchester City.

Following his high-profile £123M move from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, fans have remained patient with the two-time Champions League winner as he adjusts to a new league.

Across his first five appearances under head coach Andoni Iraola, the Frenchman is still searching for his first goal contribution.

With senior strikers Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo currently sidelined through injury, Barcola’s role in the side is coming under sharp focus.

Reflecting on his transition from Ligue 1 to the intensity of the English top flight, Barcola admitted that the shift in style has tested him physically, even resulting in cramps during his early appearances.

“Yes, I feel comfortable. At the beginning, I had to adapt and now I feel that I’m adapting more and more. So, I’m very happy to start ahead and I hope to be even better on the pitch,” Barcola told club media.

“I think it’s very intense. It’s very different from Ligue 1. The games are end-to-end and there is a lot more running required,” he added.

“You have to work hard to be ready for it, and that’s what I try to do in training to be prepared for every match.”

With an unbeaten run on the line and a massive test against the league leaders awaiting at Anfield, Barcola will be hoping his hard work on the training ground translates into a breakthrough performance on Sunday.
