1. Sarah Platt's trial gets underway

Sarah hopes Kit will agree to provide a character reference ahead of her trial, but he refuses to get involved. When Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) challenges him over his decision, he finally reveals the devastating truth: he has stage three breast cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy.
Determined to make Kit reconsider, Bethany urges him to tell Sarah about his diagnosis before the trial begins. However, he remains adamant that he won't discuss it with her.
Bethany and Todd subsequently visit her mum, who admits she's beginning to accept that Kit won't support her in court. But Todd lets slip about the health news, leaving Bethany horrified and Sarah reeling from the revelation.

With the trial looming, Bethany begs Sarah to let Gary take the blame for Theo's murder, reminding her that Harry (Joshua Leavy), Kit and the rest of the family need her. Sarah is left torn over what to do.
Before heading to court, Sarah takes in her prison cell and fears she could be spending years behind bars. The trial then finally gets underway, and the prosecution paints a damning picture of Sarah, claiming she was so enraged by Theo's treatment of Todd that she took matters into her own hands and killed him.
Things take a devastating turn when Lisa and Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson) give their evidence, leaving Sarah's defence facing an uphill battle.

That night, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) rounds on Lisa, accusing her of undermining his sister's case. He then turns his anger towards Kit, berating him for failing to support the family. But Kit reaches the end of his tether and tells David and Bethany that he wants nothing more to do with them.
Meanwhile, Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) spots Todd heading into the undertakers and questions why he isn't in court. Todd admits that he simply can't face being there.
Later in the week, the prosecution barrister continues to tear into Sarah, but Todd eventually finds the courage to take the stand and speaks up in his friend's defence.
Meanwhile, Bethany makes another attempt to persuade Kit to step up, pointing out that her mum isn't the only person who needs him – Harry does, too.

She subsequently tells her uncle David that Sarah's barrister has been in touch and Kit won't be attending court. As the prosecution questions Gary on the witness stand, an upset Bethany storms out of the courtroom and heads home, where she once again urges Kit to do the right thing.
When Kit finally takes the stand, will he tell the whole truth? Meanwhile, Sarah calls Bethany from prison with a heartbreaking request. If she's found guilty, she wants her to take custody of younger brother Harry.
2. The investigation into last week's shooting continues

The investigation into the shooting at the Platt house takes a fresh turn when Lisa decides to revisit earlier statements and put further questions to those involved.
As she begins probing for more information, someone is left desperately trying to conceal their panic. But what are they hiding, and could Lisa be closing in on the truth?
3. Leanne Battersby wars with ex-husband Nick Tilsley

Leanne's day takes a disastrous turn when she arrives at Speed Daal and is confronted by a furious Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), who accuses her of serving undercooked food and making her family ill.
With Idris Nazir (Junade Khan) left dealing with a stream of angry customers complaining of food poisoning, Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akudwudike) launches a thorough inspection of the kitchen. His findings are alarming - all the meat served the previous evening was well past its sell-by date.
Leanne soon discovers that Nick was responsible for the delivery, raising an uncomfortable question. Was the dodgy meat simply an unfortunate mistake, or did he deliberately trying to sabotage the business?

Tracy makes it clear that she expects compensation for the food poisoning, while Idris insists that Nick must be held accountable for what has happened. Leanne and Idris subsequently confront him, warning him that the restaurant is being torn apart on social media and insisting he needs to accept some responsibility.
As Nick struggles to cope with the mounting criticism, he reads through a barrage of terrible online reviews and receives yet another cancellation. Partner Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) tries to reassure him that the furore will eventually die down, but the damage is already being done.
Later, a despondent Nick and Toyah break the news to Leanne in The Rovers that the restaurant's reputation is suffering and business is rapidly declining. Things take a more personal turn when Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) discovers a string of cruel comments about himself on a school group chat. Most of the messages are hurtful, although Hope Dobbs (Isabella Flanagan) stands out by defending him.

Back at the Viaduct Bistro, Nick reveals that the business can no longer afford to pay its usual meat supplier and has been forced to buy cheaper meat from Freshco. Faced with the restaurant's mounting problems, Leanne suggests that they should cut their losses and sell up.
But Toyah soon confronts Leanne on the street, revealing that she's worked out what she and Idris are supposedly trying to do. Toyah accuses the pair of deliberately undermining the bistro so they can buy it at a knock-down price.

Later, Nick visits Speed Daal, where Idris takes the opportunity to twist the knife by pointing out that both his relationship with Sam and his business are in serious trouble. Nick subsequently receives a heartbreaking confession from his son, who admits he's been subjected to horrible online trolling and felt able to confide in Idris about what was happening.
When Idris arrives at the bistro, he urges Nick to do the decent thing and sell the business back to Leanne. With the restaurant's future looking increasingly uncertain, will Nick finally give in?
4. Debbie Webster believes husband Ronnie Bailey is cheating

Debbie announces that she's heading off to work, but Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) reminds her that she'd booked the day off. Unwilling to admit that she's forgotten, Debbie claims she has back-to-back meetings that she can't cancel, and he decides to play along.
Later, at the Chariot Square, Ronnie thanks Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) for finding Debbie some work to keep her occupied. However, she spots the pair talking and begins to suspect they're discussing her behind her back.
Things take a worrying turn when she attempts to make toast for Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) and Ronnie catches her pushing a knife into the toaster. Horrified, he quickly pulls the plug from the socket, leaving Debbie upset and accusing him of treating her like a toddler.

Her mood deteriorates further when Bernie Winter-Alahan (Jane Hazlegrove) fails to turn up for lunch. Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) offers to keep her company instead, but when Ronnie calls to check on his wife, she takes offence and heads out.
Concerned about how best to support her, Asha suggests that Ronnie should consider joining a local dementia support group. But will he take her advice?
Later, Debbie is pottering around the kitchen when she discovers a leaflet in the bin advertising a care home. She's horrified by the find and immediately begins to fear the worst.

Ronnie subsequently turns down Debbie's offer to spend the afternoon resting together, explaining that he's going out to collect some lunch. Suspicious and increasingly anxious, Debbie summons sister-in-law Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine) to the flat and confides that she believes Ronnie is having an affair and planning to put her in a care home.
When Ronnie later announces that he's heading to a meeting, Debbie's suspicions flare up again. She calls Abi and asks her to keep an eye on him, hoping to discover what he's really up to. Abi subsequently passes Victoria Garden and spots Ronnie with his arms around another woman.

When Ronnie explains that the woman is someone he met through the support group, Abi urges him to be honest with Debbie. He eventually reassures Debbie that he's not cheating on her, and she begins to let her guard down. In a bid to celebrate his birthday, Debbie reveals that she's booked the honeymoon suite at the hotel.
But when Ronnie arrives at the hotel with his overnight bag, Debbie is left mortified to discover that she's completely forgotten about the booking and has already hired the suite out to someone else.

Gary then receives a call from Weatherfield High, informing him that Jake has been suspended for fighting.
Back at the flat, the teenager unleashes his anger on Gary, accusing him of putting his freedom at risk for Sarah and insisting that his actions prove he doesn't care about him, Liam or Maria.
With Gary and Maria subsequently heading to the pub, Jake decides he's had enough and packs his rucksack before leaving home. When Gary discovers that his son's bed hasn't been slept in, he immediately contacts Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) for answers.

He's stunned when she reveals that Jake stayed with her on Grayling Street and has made it clear he no longer wants to live with his dad. Izzy later arrives at Victoria Court to collect the rest of Jake's belongings, leaving Gary devastated by the situation.
Desperate to repair their relationship, Gary meets Jake in the café and begs him to come home. But Jake refuses to back down, pointing out that his dad chose to put Sarah before his own family.
