Three eastern provinces and four in the Central Region could be inundated by heavy rain on the weekend, while some areas in Bangkok will also possibly face downpours, weathermen said on Friday.

The Meteorological Department warned Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat of heavy rain on Saturday, and downpours will move to Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan on Sunday.

Heavy rain will also be expected in some areas in the capital on Saturday and the situation will improve on Sunday, the department said, adding it still anticipated wet weather conditions in the southern region next week.

The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department said 22 provinces were still under water with Chachoengsao being the only province where floodwater continued to rise. Flooding situations were either stable or improved in 21 other provinces.

The flood crisis has killed 60 people, with Prachin Buri leading the death toll at 19.
