UTHAI THANI — 21 October 2026, An 83-year-old woman was shocked to find a three-metre albino python slithering through her home in Uthai Thani, prompting a rescue team to capture the snake before a phone call to her son revealed it was his pet that had escaped from its enclosure.

Rescuers from the Mueang Phra Chanok rescue team, which specialises in snake handling, were called to the two-storey house in Uthai Mai subdistrict, Mueang district, after the snake was spotted hiding downstairs.

The woman, identified as Sermsuk Thomya, showed rescuers where the snake had slithered beneath a storage shelf. Using specialised equipment, the team secured the python with a loop around its neck and removed it after about 10 minutes.

The snake was an albino python with golden markings, measuring approximately three metres long. Rescuers initially suspected it was an escaped pet and planned to take it to a zoo for care.

Neighbours gathered to see the unusual snake, with some believing it could bring good luck.

After the capture, Sermsuk called her son to tell him that an albino python had entered the house. He then explained that the snake belonged to him and had been kept in a glass enclosure in an upstairs room. It apparently escaped from the enclosure and made its way downstairs.

The family subsequently asked rescuers to return the python to its glass enclosure, bringing the unexpected rescue operation to an end.
