Members of the BARMM parliament recently convened for their inaugural session, during which Abdulraof Macacua was elected chief minister.

“We congratulate our fellow countrymen in BARMM and Abdulraof Macacua on his election as chief minister of the entire region. We believe that the new leadership will promote good governance and, with the help of stakeholders, promote economic development and the welfare of everyone in the region,” Gatchalian said.

Macacua was the former chief of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces, the armed wing of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, which is now being decommissioned in keeping with a 2014 peace deal with the government. /mcm
