ALOR GAJAH: The nomination process for all 28 seats in Melaka proceeded smoothly this morning, with no untoward incidents or provocations reported.

Melaka police chief Datuk Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the situation at all nomination centres across the state remained peaceful and under control, with political party supporters displaying good discipline.

He said traffic conditions around the nomination centres were also manageable, with no major congestion reported.

"As of 10.15am, no untoward incidents have been reported at any of the nomination centres across Melaka.

"The situation throughout the state remains peaceful and under control, with no disturbances or provocations involving political party supporters.

"Traffic conditions are also under control, with no major congestion reported so far," he told reporters at the Machap Jaya nomination centre at Kompleks Japerun here today.

At the Machap Jaya nomination centre, about 1,000 supporters of Barisan Nasional, Pakatan Harapan and Bersama gathered to show their support for their respective candidates.

Dzulkhairi thanked political party supporters and their leaders for maintaining order throughout the nomination process.

"I would like to thank all political party supporters. From what I have observed this morning, everyone has remained calm, with no provocations or disturbances.

"I also appreciate the efforts of party leaders in ensuring their supporters refrain from any inappropriate behaviour," he said.

He also reminded political parties and their supporters to refrain from provocations, particularly those involving sensitive issues related to race, religion and royalty (3R).

"I urge all political parties and their supporters to exercise restraint throughout the two-week campaign period.

"We hope everyone will refrain from provocations or raising issues involving the 3R, as I have previously emphasised.

"Our priority is to ensure the campaign period proceeds peacefully until polling day on Nov 14," he said.

Dzulkhairi said police would also closely monitor social media platforms for content involving 3R issues, defamatory statements, misinformation and incitement.

"We will continue monitoring social media, particularly content involving the 3R, defamation, false information and incitement," he said.
