Indonesia maps three steps to accelerate KDMP operations

Translate

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Ministry of Cooperatives has devised a three-step strategy to accelerate the operationalization phase of the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP) program, focusing on dissemination, verification, and human resources.

Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono said in a press release on Monday that the strategy is aimed at enabling KDMPs to begin business operations immediately.

“We need to move faster toward the operationalization phase,” he said during a visit to Banjarnegara District, Central Java, on Sunday (Sept. 13), emphasizing the need for concrete efforts to advance the program on the ground.

He said the ministry would first hold activities to disseminate technical information on the operation of KDMP business units to cooperative administrators.

Juliantono added that the next step is to verify and validate processes related to physical infrastructure and facilities built for the village cooperatives, including their official handover to cooperative administrators.

Third, he continued, the ministry intends to employ selected managers in the near term, assigning them to lead and oversee the daily operations of cooperatives already established in various regions across the country.

The minister emphasized that accelerating the operationalization phase reflected the government’s commitment to revitalizing cooperatives as one of the pillars of the national economy, alongside state-owned enterprises and private companies.

Banjarnegara Regent Amalia Desiana affirmed that her administration and village administrations are ready to support KDMPs in beginning their operations.

She expressed hope that cooperatives developed under the national flagship initiative would serve as platforms for rural residents to increase the value of their locally sourced commodities.

Ministry data shows that a total of 24,701 KDMPs had completed physical development by Sept. 14, with construction still ongoing for 10,866 others.

Construction works cover a range of facilities essential for administrative and business activities, such as offices, warehouses, and outlets.
