Sekhukhune United to pull the trigger on coach?

The Burundian tactician only took charge of Sekhukhune ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign. However, his position is already under serious scrutiny.

Kaze has suffered three consecutive defeats against Orlando Pirates. The first came in the Betway Premiership. The two sides then met twice in the MTN8 semi-finals.

Sekhukhune United lost the first leg 1-0 before suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat in the return fixture at the Orlando Amstel Arena.

The result saw Babina Noko eliminated 4-0 on aggregate. Kaze’s problems have been compounded by his recent touchline suspension.

The Sekhukhune United coach was shown a straight red card during the league meeting with Orlando Pirates following a heated exchange with the fourth official.

That suspension forced him to watch the MTN8 semi-final second leg from the stands. Assistant coach Paulus Masehe took charge from the technical area as Sekhukhune United suffered another defeat.

According to iDiski Times’ Sinethenba Makonco, the club’s hierarchy has now become increasingly concerned about Kaze’s ability to deliver their top-four ambitions.

There has been no official confirmation from Sekhukhune United that Kaze has been dismissed. However, reports indicate that the club is reviewing his position and could consider alternatives if the situation does not improve.

Kaze arrived at Sekhukhune United with considerable expectations.

The former Kaizer Chiefs assistant had spoken confidently about building on the club’s previous top-five finishes and pushing the team towards an even stronger campaign.

Instead, his reign has started with a difficult run of results. The pressure is now firmly on the Burundian coach.

With the Betway Premiership season still in its early stages, Sekhukhune United must decide whether Kaze remains the man to lead their campaign or whether a change in the dugout is already on the cards.
