PORT DICKSON, Oct 3 — A man was killed while his wife and daughter were injured after the Perodua Myvi they were travelling in collided with a lorry driven by a man suspected to be under the influence of alcohol at KM13.5 of Jalan Lukut-Sepang here yesterday.
Port Dickson district police chief Supt Ahmad Afiq Mohd Adnan said the 35-year-old car driver died at the scene due to severe injuries in the 6.50pm incident, while his 32-year-old wife and their five-year-old daughter sustained injuries.
He said preliminary investigations found that the accident occurred when the 46-year-old lorry driver, who was travelling in the Lukut-Sepang direction, is believed to have lost control of the vehicle before entering the opposite lane and colliding with the car.
“The lorry driver was unhurt. An initial screening found that his urine test was negative, but a breathalyser test showed an alcohol reading above the permitted limit. All the victims were taken to Port Dickson Hospital for further action,” he said in a statement today.
He said the lorry driver had been arrested and the case was being investigated under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — Bernama
