ORLANDO PIRATES CONFIRM SOWETO DERBY TICKET NEWS
After revealing tickets went on sale on Wednesday morning, the Buccaneers later announced that all tickets had been snapped up, just eight hours after going on sale.
The first Soweto Derby of this season comes after Orlando Pirates won their first Betway Premiership title in 14 years. Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou’s side also lifted MTN8 and Carling Knockout trophies last season.
Rivals Kaizer Chiefs concluded a trophyless season, but finished third to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup was decent enough.
LAST SEASON’S SOWETO DERBY MATCHES
Last term’s events offered two contrasting results in the home and away games. In the first meeting in February, Orlando Pirates ran away with a 3-0 victory. Tshepang Moremi, Oswin Appollis and Evidence Makgopa etched their names on the scoresheet.
The second Soweto Derby of last season, played in April, produced a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Kaizer Chiefs’ Pule Mmodi broke the deadlock before Kamogelo Sebelebele found the equaliser for Orlando Pirates.
