Emmerdale star Nick Miles rules out one career move after Jimmy's exit

Emmerdale's Nick Miles has shared what his plans for the future are after exiting the ITV soap. Miles played Jimmy King in the show for 22 years, making him one of the longest-serving actors in the Dales.

It was announced earlier this year that Miles would be leaving Emmerdale, with Jimmy dying in a tragic car crash while on his way to surprise wife Nicola King with a romantic picnic.

The actor has been enjoying his downtime away from scripts and filming days, he told Express.co.uk at the National Television Awards, sharing what he had been up to following his emotional final scenes.

"I’m loving it. I’ve been to the opening game of Arsenal's season, which I never could do when I was at Emmerdale. I’ve been to the test match at Headingley, which I could never do when I was in Emmerdale. I’ve had fun," he began.

"My wife and I have a lovely camper van, and we took it to the south west of Scotland where nobody goes much and we just had a beautiful zen time sat by lochs thinking about the future, chilling out. There’s a bit more of that in my life now to come.

"I turn 65 at the end of the year - contrary to popular belief, I think Wikipedia got me younger than that - and I’m looking forward to new adventures and a bit more relaxation," he said.

One thing he said he won't be doing, however, is appearing on the likes of I'm a Celebrity or Strictly, admitting that he is not a fan of the ITV reality shows.

"I’m not a great fan of those shows with 'Celebrity' in the title. I really want to do acting. It’s what I’ve always wanted to do rather than just being on telly, so I hope you’ll see me either on stage or screen playing somebody else," he shared.

In the soap, Jimmy's ex-wife Sadie has been using his death to manipulate the villagers, claiming the pair had been having a years-long affair behind Nicola's back.

Sadie produced various pieces of "proof" of their infidelity, but viewers have seen that this evidence has been fabricated.

Next week, Jimmy's son Carl stumbles across secret messages on his late father's laptop, which piques Nicola's interest as she attempts to learn more about Jimmy's alleged double life.

"This could be a make-or-break moment for Sadie's ongoing deceit," warns our Emmerdale source. "Robert Sugden has already figured out that Sadie is lying in a cruel money-making scam, so if the voice messages prove this, there could be hell to pay with Nicola!

"However, another possibility is that the voice messages only make Jimmy look more guilty. We know that he was secretly in touch with Sadie before he died, so there's every chance that evidence of this could be misconstrued. Fans will have to tune in to see which way it goes…"

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
