Defence minister backs Tinubu, Sani’s re-election

The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.), has reaffirmed his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, in the 2027 general elections.

Musa made the declaration in Kaduna on Friday during a meeting with local government coordinators of GCG Musawah 4 PBAT 2027, a political mobilisation structure established to canvass support for the re-election of Tinubu and Uba Sani.

According to a statement signed by the Secretary of the group, James Swam, the meeting provided an opportunity for the minister to interact with the leadership of the movement, coordinators from the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State and representatives of over 300 affiliated support and interest groups.

Addressing the gathering, Musa reportedly urged members of the movement to remain determined in their mobilisation efforts, stressing the need for collective commitment towards building a stronger and more prosperous in the country.

“I will continue to work hard for Nigeria to succeed. We should remain determined to build this country because together we are stronger as a nation,” he said.

Musa also emphasised the importance of religious tolerance, national unity and peaceful coexistence, drawing from his childhood experience in Sokoto.

“I grew up in Sokoto; there is no way I can object to any religion. I remember that during Sallah, as children, we were the ones who would hold the ram to be slaughtered,” he recalled.

The minister said the country was endowed with enormous human and material resources capable of transforming the country if citizens remained united and committed to national development.

“God put us in Nigeria to build this country, and we have the capacity to do it, both in human and material resources,” Musa stated.

He urged Nigerians to see nation-building as a collective responsibility, stressing that progress would require unity, determination and commitment to the national interest.

The National Coordinator of the movement, Polycarp Gankon, who was the 2019 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Kaduna State, expressed appreciation to Musa for his continued support and for engaging directly with the movement’s grassroots coordinators and affiliated support groups.

Gankon described the minister’s engagement as a further boost to the movement’s mobilisation activities across the state.
