The Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, has pledged the full commitment of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to work closely with the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) to boost investments and accelerate economic growth in the region.

The minister made this commitment when a delegation from the Ghana Free Zones Authority paid a courtesy call to him at his office at the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council in the regional capital, Techiman.

The engagement provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss areas of collaboration and explore practical ways to promote investment, industrial development, and sustainable economic growth across the Bono East Region.

First Free Zones Office for Bono East

In his opening remarks, Mr. Effah Prince, the Bono East Regional Director of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, noted that this marks the first time the region has had a Free Zones Office since Bono East was carved out of the former Brong-Ahafo Region in 2018.\

"We are here today to officially introduce the Bono East Regional Office of the Ghana Free Zones Authority. This is the first time the region is having a Free Zones Office since Bono East was created out of the former Brong-Ahafo Region in 2018," Mr. Effah stated.

He expressed profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament for Techiman North, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, who also serves as the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, for her visionary efforts in making the establishment of the regional office a reality.

"I want to express my sincere gratitude to our visionary Member of Parliament for Techiman, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, who doubles as the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, for her efforts in making this a reality," he said.

Mr. Effah explained that the core mandate of the Ghana Free Zones Authority is to attract investment, create employment opportunities, and promote sustainable economic development throughout the country.

"The mandate of the Ghana Free Zones Authority is to attract investment, create employment opportunities, and promote sustainable economic development in the country," he explained.

He further appealed to Nananom (traditional authorities), the business community, political leaders, and the good people of the Bono East Region to support his office in its quest to bring more investment and development to the area.

"I appeal to Nananom, the business community, political leaders, and the good people of the Bono East Region to support my office to bring more investment and development to the region," Mr. Effah urged.

Region Rich in Export Potential

On his part, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi emphasised that the Bono East Region is blessed with enormous potential in the export sector, and he reaffirmed the RCC's dedication to supporting the Ghana Free Zones Authority in advancing its mandate.

"The Bono East Region is blessed with more potential in export, and I reaffirm the commitment of the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council to supporting the Ghana Free Zones Authority to advance their mandate," the minister stated.

"I look forward to a fruitful partnership that will contribute to the growth and development of Bono East and Ghana as a whole," Hon. Owusu Antwi assured the GFZA delegation.

The courtesy call signals a new chapter of collaboration between the regional administration and the Free Zones Authority, with both sides expressing optimism about the prospects of increased investment, job creation, and industrial development in the Bono East Region.
