Scottish League Cup: Fernandez In Action As Rangers Thrash Celtic To Reach Semifinal

Nigeria international Emmanuel Fernandez was in action as Rangers hammered rivals Celtic 3-0 in the Scottish League Cup quarterfinal at Ibrox Stadium on Sunday.

Midfielder Dan Neil gave Rangers the lead midway through the first half and Venezuela striker Kevin Kelsy doubled their advantage in 59 minutes.

Neil, signed from Sunderland in the summer, sealed the victory with a fine finish from the edge of the box with 15 minutes remaining.

The other teams who are already in the semifinals are Hearts, Hibernian and Aberdeen.

The draw for the Scottish League Cup semi-finals will take place later today (Sunday, 13 September 2026).

Rangers are the record holders of the cup, winning 28 times. St Mirren are the current holders, winning their second title after beating Celtic 3–1 at Hampden Park on 14 December 2025.
