Lithium Argentina repurchases $200M in convertible notes

Translate

Lithium Argentina (LAR) has repurchased $200M in aggregate principal amount of its convertible senior notes due January 2027 for approximately $198M in cash, plus accrued interest, through privately negotiated transactions with a limited number of qualified institutional buyers.

The company funded the repurchases with cash on hand, including proceeds from a $180M strategic investment by Ganfeng Lithium Group that closed on September 15, 2026.

Following the transactions, around $59M in principal remains outstanding. Lithium Argentina intends to repay the remaining balance by its January 15, 2027 maturity using cash on hand, which exceeded $100M after the repurchases.

“Repurchasing the majority of the 2027 Notes with cash is the next step in deleveraging and strengthening our balance sheet,” said Sam Pigott, chief executive officer. “With no other corporate-level debt maturing until 2032 and Cauchari-Olaroz generating strong cash flow, we are well positioned to allocate capital in the way that best serves our shareholders.”
