Mexican Disco-Funk Band Midnight Generation Share New Song “Norway” as Hollywood Bowl Show Approaches: Watch
Mexican disco-funk band Midnight Generation is keeping busy on the road with Empire of the Sun, but they still seem to be finding time to share new songs.
A few weeks ago they released the Daft-Punk inspired “Almost on My Own.” Now they’ve unleashed “Norway” which was fittingly written during another tour, as Frontman Fernando Mares said through a press release that inspiration struck while the band was playing Trevarefest in a small Norwegian fishing village.
“It’s about an impossible love, and the hope that maybe one day we’ll make it back there and finally take that trip together,” Mares explained.
Musically, “Norway” keeps Midnight Generation firmly on the dance floor, pairing shimmering synths and disco rhythms with French Touch and late-’70s and ’80s influences. The accompanying “Norway” video was filmed in a continuous wide shot at a park in Texcoco, outside Mexico City, with a vintage GMC G-Series van at its center.
Meanwhile, Midnight Generation are nearing the end of their North American run supporting Empire of the Sun and Polo & Pan. After kicking off the tour at Red Rocks in August and making stops including New York’s Forest Hills Stadium, the band will play the Hollywood Bowl on October 8th before wrapping in Las Vegas the following night.
