Indonesia aims for Rp165 trillion in mineral, coal revenue by 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian government has set a target to achieve non-tax state revenue of up to Rp165 trillion (approximately US$9.17 billion) from the mineral and coal subsector by the end of 2026.

Coordinating Minister for Downstreaming and Energy Transition Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the optimistic target is backed by strong fiscal performance within the national mining sector throughout the current year.

"We are targeting that by the end of 2026, this could reach Rp160 trillion to Rp165 trillion," Bahlil said during the opening of the Mineral and Coal Convention and Exhibition 2026 in Jakarta on Monday (November 2).

Bahlil noted that as of October 31, 2026, mineral and coal subsector non-tax state revenue had already reached Rp141.94 trillion (US$7.89 billion), achieving 106 percent of the official full-year target of Rp134.05 trillion (US$7.45 billion).

The current revenue figure has also surpassed the total realization for the entire 2025 fiscal year, which stood at Rp135.16 trillion (US$7.51 billion).

"This signifies a very significant increase," Bahlil noted, praising the mining business community for driving the growth.

"You are all patriots who contribute revenue to the state,” he added.

Alongside economic gains, the government issued a firm reminder to industry stakeholders regarding environmental stewardship and sustainable operations, particularly concerning mandatory land reclamation programs.

Official figures show that as of September 2026, mining companies completed land reclamation across 6,480 hectares out of a targeted 10,100 hectares, marking a 64 percent completion rate.

Bahlil urged sector leaders to prioritize sound governance and exercise prudence in managing the nation's natural wealth.

“Let us not manage them like starving people,” the minister cautioned, emphasizing the need for long-term sustainability over short-term exploitation.
