Green Lantern’s New Superpower Officially Makes Him DC’s New Strongest Hero

DC introduces a new power to Green Lantern lore, making one of the power ring wearers basically unbeatable. Green Lantern hard-light constructs easily transcend their reputation as simple offensive weapons given how much of a versatile toolkit they can be. A ring bearer’s output is limited only by their imagination and willpower. For instance, during a medical emergency, a surgically trained Lantern like Soranik Natu can instantly project a functioning system of surgical equipment to perform life-saving operations, and an architect like John Stewart can replicate intricate mechanical machinery down to the last nut and bolt.

The wider Emotional Spectrum grants each Lantern Corps entirely unique abilities. The Star Sapphires wield the energy of love, which allows them to track jeopardized hearts across galaxies and kick off cellular regeneration to heal severe injuries. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the Black Lanterns tap directly into the absence of light to resurrect and reanimate the zombified corpses of the dead while preserving the unique superpowers they possessed in life. Other factions exhibit equally bizarre traits: the Red Lanterns vomit a corrosive napalm-like blood, and the Orange Lantern siphons the identities of those he kills to manifest them as a personal army.

All Lanterns are also capable of reaching extreme levels of power and purity of emotions, symbolized by the White Lantern ring and energy, which comes with its own arsenal of unique and rather overpowered abilities.

White Lantern Kyle Rayner Can Remove Other People's Powers At Will

Kyle Rayner finds himself overwhelmed when he's attacked by the Big Belly Burger mascots and Marktelion the Dominator simultaneously, but adding Major Force to the mix is the breaking point. Hence, Kyle decides to tap into his White Lantern power yet again, then he effortlessly transforms the victims of the Dominator from zombies back into humans, and then he strips Major Force of his powers just by pointing his ring at the villain. Just for personal satisfaction, Kyle punches the powerless Major Force to submission without any help from the Green Lantern or White Lantern energy.

Kyle Rayner only taps into the White Lantern power during life-or-death situations, like in his recent battle against the terrifying Dr. Skin. However, having to fight Major Force is a very personal thing for Kyle. While he could have fought the Dominator, the Big Belly Burger mascots, and Major Force simultaneously with the help of Odyssey and Jade, Kyle Rayner felt he had no time to deal with Major Force's taunts, and he wanted to teach him a lesson by removing what makes him so confident. But if Kyle can do the same to most of his enemies, he might earn the definitive title of DC's most powerful Lantern.
