Favourite ITV detective drama is set to get a royal twist with the Queen joining the show

Queen Camilla could join the cast of Grace in the future, the Daily Mail reports. The series is based on the Roy Grace novels by Peter James, consisting of 23 crime thriller novels following the titular Sussex Police Detective Superintendent in Brighton.
Grace, which first began airing in 2021 on ITV, stars John Simm as DS Roy Grace, solving a variety of cases while still haunted by the disappearance of his wife.
The sixth season of the show aired earlier this year, with a seventh confirmed back in April.

Looking to the future of the book series and show, author James is set to ask Queen Camilla and King Charles whether they would appear in the show.
In James' novel The Hawk Is Dead, the King and Queen help Grace when he is tasked with solving the murder of a royal aide.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the author said: "I’m going to ask Camilla if she’d like to play herself in Grace."
He continued: "I would choose Camilla. I’d love to see Charles in The Hawk, too. He did some acting at school, and I’d love to see him take it up again. Camilla’s up for a laugh, and she’s really good fun. I love her sense of humour – it would be so cool if she starred in it."
In 2021, Camilla visited the set of Grace episode 'Dead Tomorrow', where she offered to perform a cameo role as a corpse.

The news comes after a friend of Meghan Markle accused Netflix of "using" the royal to promote The Gentlemen.
With The Gentlemen season two coming soon, it had been reported that the former Suits star was in "advanced talks" to join the Guy Ritchie drama for season three.
However, a source close to Meghan accused Netflix of "using" Meghan to promote the show, telling The Telegraph: "Some people in her camp feel she was used to help promote season two, because they knew it wasn't as good as the first season and had already commissioned a third [series].
"It's the oldest marketing trick in the book: get a big name to read a script, then leak that you're 'in conversation' with them when, in reality, nothing is particularly far along.

"The whole thing left a bit of a sour taste in the Sussex camp’s mouth. Needless to say, Netflix got what it wanted: huge viewing figures for season two and a lot of publicity."
Netflix has since responded to the claim, with an insider telling The Times: "This is not a show in need of stunt casting."
Grace seasons one to six are available to stream on ITVX.
