Danantara optimizes Red-White Co-ops' role in staples distribution

Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - Indonesia's State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN) and sovereign wealth fund Danantara continued strengthening synergy among state-owned enterprises (SOEs/BUMN) to support the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDKMP) program.

The effort is especially aimed at widening public access to basic necessities and subsidized goods.

"The President’s vision is for the distribution of everything subsidized to go through the village cooperatives. That means the data will be at the cooperatives later," Danantara Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria said here on Tuesday.

As a result, the cooperatives are expected to become distribution points for various public needs, supported by the supply and distribution fleets of SOEs.

The support was realized through collaboration between Pertamina Patra Niaga, the downstream arm of state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina, and state-owned fertilizer firm Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company (PIHC).

The collaboration aimed in strengthening the energy and food distribution ecosystem through the KDKMP network.

Various public needs, from liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to MinyaKita cooking oil and fertilizer, are being pushed to be distributed sustainably according to villagers’ needs.

Therefore, Oskaria held a coordination meeting with the boards of directors of Pertamina Patra Niaga and PIHC.

"We are supplying because the impact on the public is direct. The cooperatives’ benefits are truly real. So it has kept running," he said.

The support can be seen in fertilizer distribution, with average order volumes of 4-5 tons per cooperative. Meanwhile, LPG distribution is adjusted to each cooperative’s needs so supply stays available and people can access it more easily.

BP BUMN and Danantara are committed to keep pushing collaboration among state-owned enterprises to ensure the KDKMP program runs optimally and sustainably.

The synergy is expected not only to strengthen distribution of basic necessities and subsidized goods, but also to make the cooperatives drivers of village economies and widen equal distribution of national development benefits.
