Hayden Panettiere’s Ex-Fiancé Claims Non-Family May Have ‘Destroyed’ Star’s Emails, Jewelry Missing

Wladimir Klitschko is seeking standing to act on behalf of their 11-year-old daughter, the star’s sole heir, amid “urgent” concerns about potentially missing assets

Hayden Panettiere’s former fiancé, Wladimir Klitschko, said it is “urgent and essential” that he be given temporary authority over the financial interests of their 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, amid concerns that outsiders could interfere with her rights as the sole heir to the late Nashville actress’ estate.

In new filings in Los Angeles County probate court obtained by Rolling Stone, the former boxer said the appointment would allow him to open probate proceedings on his daughter’s behalf and protect Panettiere’s property from being “lost, damaged or dissipated” before a more permanent personal representative can be appointed.

“Petitioner is informed and believes that non-family members previously connected to Hayden have accessed and destroyed Hayden’s emails. Additionally, petitioner has been informed that certain items of personal property belonging to Hayden, including jewelry, have disappeared or remain unaccounted for,” the new six-page petition, which was filed Sept. 24 but surfaced on Monday, reads.

Klitschko said some items are currently in the custody of law enforcement in connection with the ongoing investigation into Panettiere’s overdose death. The Heroes actress died from the toxic effects of fentanyl and other drugs on Aug. 16, according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, which ruled her death an accident.

In addition to fentanyl, toxicology tests detected alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax; the muscle relaxant methocarbamol; and quetiapine, a medication primarily used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and, in some cases, depression. The coroner’s statement, released more than a month after Panettiere died unexpectedly at 36, also said an autopsy found no evidence of trauma that contributed to her death.

In the new filings, Klitschko said it was essential that an administrator be appointed to oversee Panettiere’s assets, locate any property that may be missing, and coordinate with law enforcement. He said that before Panettiere’s death, he and the actress had hired a security service to protect her home and belongings due to concerns that an unidentified person had “gained unauthorized access” to the property. After her death, he said, the security service changed the locks, and storage units containing designer clothing and accessories she had worn at public appearances were moved as a precaution.

“It is expected that the individual will continue to try and misappropriate property belonging to Hayden’s estate,” the new filings state. “Given the high publicity of Hayden’s estate, a personal representative needs to be appointed immediately to safeguard and protect Hayden’s home and contents.”
