Don’t let political crisis cripple state administration, says Negeri Sembilan PKR

The ongoing political crisis in Negeri Sembilan cannot be allowed to cripple the state administration, PKR’s state chapter said today.

Negeri Sembilan PKR said the administrative uncertainty surrounding the state’s executive council could delay urgent matters requiring consideration and approval by the authorities.

It said investments, developments, approvals and land transfers, as well as project implementation, could be affected.

“This could jeopardise investor confidence, complicate matters for landowners and businessmen, and affect employment and incomes.

“The state government must ensure clarity regarding who holds the power to make decisions, the responsibilities of all parties involved, and the administration’s continuity. Public interest must trump political interests and personal considerations,” it said in a statement on state PKR chief Aminuddin Harun’s Facebook page.

On Sept 20, the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, revoked the appointments of the 10 exco members after the palace said they had breached their oaths of office and pledge of allegiance to the state ruler, which they took on Aug 7.

The revocation of the appointments came a week after the exco members released a joint statement purportedly affirming Tuanku Muhriz’s removal as state ruler.

Tuanku Muhriz’s purported removal was deemed invalid by the state’s highest customary council and the Attorney-General’s Chambers, among others.

Yesterday, Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Ismail Lasim was granted an audience with Tuanku Muhriz in a meeting understood to be related to the state’s administration and the current situation.
