58 seniors in Bukidnon reach 100 years old

MARAMAG, Bukidnon — The Bukidnon provincial government has officially registered 58 centenarians under its Provincial Centenarian Cash Incentive Program as of Wednesday, honoring the province’s oldest living residents with recurring financial support.
Data from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) shows that 36 of the total recorded centenarians are still alive.
Under the local initiative, living centenarians receive an annual cash grant of P50,000 for every additional year beyond their 100th birthday.

The latest senior citizen added to the provincial roster is Teofila Ruba Italio, 100, a resident of Maramag town.
PSWDO Officer Ellen Salumintao noted that the 58 seniors reflect the total beneficiaries recorded since the provincial ordinance institutionalizing the cash incentive was enacted in 2024 to celebrate longevity, resilience, and senior contributions to local communities.
The provincial cash incentive operates separately from national benefits guaranteed under Republic Act No. 11982 or the Expanded Centenarians Act.
Managed by the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), the national law awards a P100,000 cash gift and a Presidential Letter of Felicitation to seniors reaching age 100. The law also provides other milestone cash incentives of P10,000 to seniors reaching ages 80, 85, 90, and 95.
For local officials, combining national recognition with provincial financial assistance helps elderly citizens cover mounting medical bills, food, and daily needs while easing financial pressures on their families./coa
