Which sport does India have the most Asian Games medals in?

India is set to begin its campaign at the 20th edition of the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan beginning on September 19.
It will be looking to build on its record medal haul from the 2023 edition in Hangzhou, where it took home 106 medals (28 gold, 38 silver, 40 bronze) in total, including 29 in athletics alone.
Those 29 medals included golds for the likes of Neeraj Chopra, Parul Chaudhary, and Tajinderpal Singh Toor, while the likes of Jyothi Yarraji, Ancy Sojan, Tejaswin Shankar, and Gulveer Singh also medalled.
Athletics has historically been India’s strongest discipline at the Asian Games. In total, it has won 283 medals across events in athletics, comfortably more than shooting in second and wrestling in third.
