The youngster cracked Mikel Arteta’s first-team early in the campaign, playing half an hour off the bench in the August defeat of Leeds before starting against Brighton in the Carabao Cup eight weeks later.

His first senior goal came in March, as he scored an impressive solo effort on the break at home to Everton. In November, before his 16th birthday, he appeared in the Champions League defeat of Slavia Prague.

He finished the campaign with six Premier League appearances, more than enough to earn him a winner’s medal, and he was later named in the matchday squad for the Champions League final.

And Dowman has now been recognised for his staggering first campaign in senior football with a trio of Guinness World Records.

He has been named the youngest-ever Premier League champion (16 years and 144 days) and goalscorer (16yrs 73d), and the youngest player ever to grace the Champions League (15yrs 308d).

In becoming the youngest-ever Champions League player, he breaks the previous record held by Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko by just 75 days.

Dowman has also made a smart start to this campaign, hitting a brace as the Gunners dispatched Ipswich 4-2 in the Carabao Cup.

Despite his meagre years, Dowman continues to impress at every level of the game and could be sent out on loan as early as January.

"We will evaluate every six months where we are and what is the best thing for him to do and then make the right decision," Arteta said of Dowman last month.

"It depends on a lot of factors. What he needs, and what the team needs as well, the availability we have in the squad, the minutes that he is playing and the qualities of those minutes.

"We have to be open, but now the focus is to be here and to impact the team."
