Ciru Muriuki Reveals Dream Car, Opens Up About Losing Father and Gives Women Relationship Advice

Translate

Kenyan media personality Ciru Muriuki has opened up about her love life, dream car, personal finances, grief and the life lessons she wishes she had learnt earlier.

Muriuki shared the details during an exclusive quickfire interview with journalist Kalondu Musyimi for Mpasho, where she responded to questions about her lifestyle, personal experiences and views on relationships.

The veteran broadcaster began her media career at Homeboyz Radio in 2008 before moving on to Kiss 100, Nation Media Group, Royal Media Services and Mediamax Networks.

She also worked as a multimedia journalist at the BBC between 2018 and 2022. Before joining the media industry, Muriuki attended Kianda School and studied medicine at the University of Nairobi before switching to journalism.

Ciru Muriuki’s Blunt Relationship Advice to Women

During the interview, Muriuki offered candid advice to young women, urging them to establish firm boundaries in their romantic relationships rather than constantly seeking to please their partners.

She emphasised that women should be confident enough to stand by their principles, arguing that being overly agreeable could undermine respect in relationships.

“Be a strict girl, especially as a young woman, you just need to be strict as you can, your boundaries are the only thing you have as a woman,” she said.

Muriuki doubled down on her position, suggesting that men are more attracted to women who maintain clear boundaries.

“Be strict as hell. The more strict you are the more they [men] like it,” she added.

She concluded her advice with a warning against always agreeing with romantic partners.

“Don’t be agreeable, men don’t respect an agreeable woman,” Muriuki stated.

Her Current Car and Dream Vehicle

The quickfire interview also offered a glimpse into Muriuki’s taste in automobiles.

She revealed that she currently drives a Porsche but has her eyes set on an older-model Land Rover Defender as her dream vehicle.

Rather than opting for the newer editions of the iconic four-wheel-drive vehicle, the media personality expressed a preference for an older version.

Muriuki also offered a brief response when asked about the amount of money in her M-Pesa account, hinting at a balance running into several figures.

“It’s a few zeroes in,” she said.

Ciru Muriuki Reflects on Father’s Death

Away from lifestyle questions, Muriuki opened up about the personal loss that has affected her most deeply.

Asked about the bereavement that left the greatest mark on her life, she identified the death of her father, who passed away in 2020 due to complications related to COVID-19.

The loss remains a significant part of her personal story, offering a glimpse into the experiences that have shaped her beyond her public career.

The Life Lesson She Wishes She Had Learnt Earlier

Muriuki also reflected on personal growth, revealing that emotional management is one of the most important skills she wishes she had developed earlier in life.

“I wish I learned early how to manage my emotions,” she said.

Her remarks highlighted the importance of emotional awareness and self-control, lessons she believes would have been valuable had she understood them sooner.
