Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika has expressed delight after scoring his first Bundesliga goal for Eintracht Frankfurt in their 3-1 victory over Hamburger SV on Sunday.

The Nigerian midfielder struck in the 47th minute at the Deutsche Bank Park to restore Frankfurt’s lead after the visitors had equalised through Terem Moffi four minutes after Warmed Omari’s own goal had put the hosts ahead.

Onyedika reacted quickest after Hamburg goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes parried Lilian Brassier’s header from a corner, sweeping the rebound into the net to make it 2-1.

Younes Ebnoutalib added Frankfurt’s third in the 69th minute to seal the victory.

The goal marked Onyedika’s first in the German top flight since joining Frankfurt from Belgian side Club Brugge in August.

The 25-year-old was visibly pleased with the achievement and thanked the club’s supporters for their encouragement in a message after the game.

“Hello fans, Eintracht Frankfurt people, thank you for the support. And it’s nice to get my first Bundesliga goal. Thank you, see you guys,” he said.

Onyedika joined Frankfurt after four seasons at Club Brugge, where he established himself as a regular in midfield and won several domestic honours.

The midfielder will now hope to build on the landmark strike as Frankfurt continue their Bundesliga campaign. They are scheduled to face Paderborn on November 7.
