CSA a positive move, should be extended to other parties, says Zahid

MASJID TANAH: The confidence and supply agreement (CSA) signed at the federal level recently should be extended to other political parties, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said the agreement was a positive step and supported its implementation.

"This is a positive development and we support the CSA.

"It would be best if the CSA could be extended to other parties, regardless of whether they are on the government or opposition side, as they have a right to serve the people and address their concerns," said the Barisan Nasional chairman after accompanying coalition candidate Datuk Seri Dr Ab Rauf Yusoh to the nomination centre at Dewan Datuk Kapt (B) Haji Ab Karim, Japerun Complex.

Zahid said the government had previously implemented a CSA when an Umno representative was prime minister.

Last week, the government signed a CSA with six Bersatu MPs led by its president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, along with seven others, as well as Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was reported as saying that the CSA was aimed at strengthening the country's political stability and ensuring the smooth administration of the government and implementation of development agendas, including the 2027 Budget.
