Thai Horror ‘Rinrada: The Influencer’ Scores Asia, Middle East Deals Around Screamfest Premiere (EXCLUSIVE)

Thai horror hit “Rinrada: The Influencer,” which stars Yoshi Rinrada in her first horror lead, has closed distribution deals in Asia and the Middle East around its North American debut at Screamfest.

The story centers on an influencer whose life is wrecked by an online pile-on. She comes back as a ghost with little time to get even, and forms an unlikely bond along the way.

Autumn Sun Films, a Hong Kong-based distributor and international sales company focused on Asian genre and arthouse films, is handling world sales.

Macau gets the film first, with a theatrical opening at Studio City on Halloween (Oct. 31). Vietnam follows in November, as do Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, where SB Productions is handling the release. PT Cahaya Sinema Nusantara has Indonesia, and dates there, as well as in the Philippines and Myanmar, are yet to be set. Moviecloud has picked up Taiwan, while Empire Entertainment acquired Pakistan and the GCC.

“Our star, Yoshi Rinrada, is a true trailblazer in Thai entertainment with millions of followers of her own. Playing an influencer in her first leading horror role, she brings so much of herself to the part that it’s truly art imitating life,” Elliott Tong of Autumn Sun Films said.

Artistaya Arriyawongsa directed and co-wrote the film, which uses the supernatural to probe online cruelty and the public shaming it fuels. He is the in-house director at producer Tham Studio19, and his credits include the company’s horror hit “The Elite of Devils” (2024) as well as “Waning Moon” (2020).

“Sometimes the monsters we fear are the ones we create ourselves,” Arriyawongsa said.

The news was unveiled at the Busan International Film Festival‘s Asian Contents & Film Market.
